Get to Know Our Team

While our sitters are unique individuals, they share a common goal: to provide an engaging, stimulating and compassionate experience for your child with special needs.

You can rest easy that your child is being treated with dignity and patience. When a child is showing signs of frustration, our sitters want to understand why a child feels frustrated. They have the ability to empathize with a child who can't communicate clearly and the skill to redirect a child who is showing signs of getting worked up.

Please take a moment to meet our qualified team of sitters:

  • Courtney K. Neiva

I have been working with special needs individuals, on and off, for about five years. I started as a paraprofessional working at a school especially for special needs students. The age range there was 3 years to 22 years and I worked in almost every class. I feel in love with the children and the new understanding they brought me.

I also worked as a behavioral aide at a company that worked with individuals in their homes and in the community. There, I would meet with an bcba about the particular client and discuss what needed to be done to help them thrive a bit better in their life. I learned a lot about using pecs and aba with individuals in the autism spectrum.

I've just moved to Colorado and will be attending school in the fall for integrative medicine. I hope to open a holistic center to help special needs individuals and their families discover less known therapies that may serve them in life.

  • Jeff Boivin

    Hello!

Welcome to Specialized Sitters! My name is Jeff and I have been working with Specialized Sitters for over two years. I have experience with a wide range of needs. I enjoy working with each family regardless of the level or nature of needs. At the bottom is a list of disorders/conditions/disabilities I have experience with (it is ever expanding so if you don't see your child's on there it does not necessarily mean I am unfamiliar, feel free to ask).

I currently work as a special education paraprofessional at Merrill Middle School in DPS for a fully inclusive program specialized to support students with Autism, Asperger's , AD/HD, Conduct Disorder, and Emotional Disorders. Prior to that I worked at Skinner Middle School in a program that delivered a mix of inclusive and specialized instruction for students with a wide variety of cognitive, adaptive, and behavioral needs. I am currently in my sixth year of working in the school system and could not be more excited about my work.

I have a B.A. from the University of Arizona in Political Science and am currently working on a Masters in Special Education at the University of Northern Colorado.

I have really enjoyed interacting with all the unique kiddos I have met through Specialized Sitters, and I learn something from each and every family. I am completely confident in my ability to help any child experience growth and success through building strong relationships, relying on positive behavior supports & interventions, and using knowledge, experience, skills, and research based-resources to meet the specific needs of each individual. Whether families want someone to take their child out into the community, help with homework, assist with managing behavior, or just someone to hang out with, I am always willing to help.

Thank you for checking out my profile and visiting Specialized Sitters!

    Jeff

  • Kaci Winemiller

    Hi there,

I am in Cedaredge, CO on the Western Slope. My name is Kaci and I am a teacher at Cedaredge Elementary. I have just completed my second year! WOOHOO! My mother owns her own clinic in Colorado Springs that caters to children with special needs. She is a physical therapist, but she employs Speech and Occupational therapists as well. She's owned this business longer than I have been alive, that being said, I was raised in her clinic. Some of my best friends were children with autism, Cerebral Palsy, Down's Syndrome, among many others. I learned how to play, engage, and more recently, teacher students with these special traits! I am going to begin my a journey in achieving my Masters Degree in Special Education next summer. I can't wait to start meeting all the lovely families on the Western Slope!

Outside of the field, I enjoy musical theatre, history, and any combination of the two.

  • Krista Keil

Born and raised in Colorado, I love those mountains! If you're looking for someone who is active, energetic, and hands on, then you've found the right person! I graduated from CU Boulder in 2012, and I have several years experience working in the fields of mental health and special needs with both youth and adults. I have additional experience teaching and nannying, and adore working with children of all ages. I believe that building relationships is essential in any job, but is of the utmost of importance when working with youth. While with your kiddo, I prefer to take a therapeutic approach, and recognize the importance of structure and boundaries when interacting with them. While nannying, I enjoy being outdoors, going on walks, doing community based activities (library, parks, shows), arts and crafts, and playing games. I love watching children develop and grow and look forward to spending time with you and your family :)
